Based on our many years of experience, we aim to make a relevant, well-founded and empowering contribution to areas of social development. Personal development in counselling and educational contexts is a particular concern of ours, which we address through our own research, lectures, networking and publications.
The Institute for Logotherapy and Existential Analysis Salzburg has been present in the scientific community with its own research projects and publications since 2014.
Value-conscious education: Accompanying young people in their search for meaning
Through coaching and lectures, we were able to reach over 4,000 teachers in Austria, Germany and internationally as part of the project ‘Value Dynamics – Making Values Tangible in Schools’ to open up the potential and possibilities for value-conscious education. The offerings range from primary schools to coaching for education authorities and European education societies. The approach was presented and discussed in several lectures to the scientific community (World Congress of Logotherapy 2021 & 2023, DGFF 2022, ATEE 2022) and was empirically evaluated and published in a small study in 2019.

The inner life of teacher trainers
Currently (since 2022), the educational director of the Institute for Logotherapy, Dr Manuela Schlick, is leading an eight-member research group from six European countries to investigate the experience of meaning among stakeholders in European teacher education through a questionnaire study and group discussions on meaningful moments in their profession. The project is already in the evaluation phase (Experience of Meaning in Teacher Education in Europe, project duration 2022 - 2026). Link to ATEE
Symposium 7–9 May 2025
Becoming aware of your own values and motivation as a teacher trainer has the potential to strengthen your own sense of purpose in your daily work and practice: teacher training offers many opportunities to experience your own work as meaningful! What is meaningful for you and your students? What led us to teacher training? What inspires us?
What enables us to overcome challenges and resistance?
This afternoon of inspiration and exchange aims to provide a space to explore your original goals and values, share experiences and stories, and rekindle your enthusiasm. High-quality education and positive educational experiences – whether in nurseries, schools, apprenticeships or adult education – are key to strong and healthy societies. Empowering educators means creating better educational spaces for children and young people.
In order to reach many educators, empower them in the long term and build on their positive educational experiences, this project focuses on the people who stand behind them and make teacher training possible in the first place:
you as researchers, teachers, mentors or supervisors in teacher training.
A heightened sense of purpose and awareness of values means bringing more courage, more confidence and a greater focus on potential to learning situations and your own practice. We therefore cordially invite you to this afternoon of inspiration and exchange and look forward to hearing your perspectives and experiences!
